Secure and Universal Connectivity

Keep your information secure

You wouldn't hold a new product brainstorming session in the restaurant next to your competitor, scribble notes on a napkin, and then leave those notes lying around. Do you want to hold your online meetings over a public network, across multiple insecure servers, leaving traces behind long after your meeting is over?

WebEx on-demand collaborative meeting applications provide secure and universal connectivity to our MediaTone™ Network switches via the Internet, allowing your users to connect and collaborate at any time from any place without requiring modifications to your security infrastructure. WebEx encrypts all session content with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to deliver the high level of protection required for enterprise data communications. Session contents are switched through the MediaTone Network, and are never persistently stored in the WebEx infrastructure, reducing opportunities for invasion or theft of private data and information.

WebEx is the only on-demand online collaboration service provider to have earned both WebTrust and SAS70 certification, giving you the highest levels of security possible. Our multi-layer security model consists of:
  • System Architecture— The WebEx MediaTone Network and all the WebEx services are specifically architected without the need for persistent storage of any meeting data within the WebEx infrastructure. Dynamic meeting content displayed during a WebEx session originates only from a Presenter's desktop. Attendees see only graphical representations of this data.
  • Firewall Compatibility— WebEx services can communicate through standard HTTP and secure SSL ports. Customers are not required to reconfigure their firewalls to enable online meetings.
  • Authentication— WebEx provides a secure framework for conducting live, interactive meetings. Added security elements include: password protected meetings, visual identification, invitation only meetings, locked and unlisted meetings.
  • Encryption— WebEx never sends meeting content in clear text. We offer a secure SSL option or use the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for transmitting data to and from clients to the WebEx servers, if the SSL option is not purchased.
  • Integrated security— Integrated 128-bit SSL encryption for all meeting services, enabling the most sensitive and confidential online meetings. Hardware SSL accelerators within the MediaTone infrastructure ensure a secure and highly scalable service from end to end.
Facilities Security
WebEx meeting services are provided by points of presence (POPs) in various geographic locations. All WebEx Data Center facilities are extremely secure. This includes physical access, access to equipment and the network.
