What is RSS? RSS Feed
Very simply, RSS is a standard for publishing regular content updates through the web.

Using this standard, when a publisher on the web makes an update (such as a blogger making a new blog post, a news site posting a news story, or WebEx announcing a new web seminar in the Webex Web Seminar Series) a headline and link for this update will be published with RSS. This RSS content is typically referred to as a "feed."

By downloading an RSS reader you will be able to "subscribe" to RSS feeds.

Many RSS readers are free. Once you are subscribed to a site's feed, you'll see their latest updates in your RSS reader. For example, if you were subscribed to the RSS feeds of a blogger, a news site, and the WebEx Web Seminar Series, then you'd see all the latest blog posts, news headlines, and WebEx web seminars when you open up your RSS reader.

In the case of the WebEx Web Seminars Series, the entries you will see are a listing of the titles of upcoming seminars, and a link to the event information page, where you can then register for the event.

The bottom line is that RSS makes it easier to get new content from all the websites that you are interested in. Rather than having to constantly visit all the different sites you're interested in, you will be able to see the latest content for all of your favorite sites in one single place!

Additional Benefits of RSS:

  1. You're in control of the content you want to receive. It's 100% opt-in. If you decide you don't want it, simply delete the channel. You can always subscribe again.
  2. No email address is necessary as nothing is emailed to you. No need to worry about email spam filters.
  3. Content is received immediately after it's been added to the content feed.
  4. You never have to worry about viruses, spyware or dangerous content affecting your computer.
