DENVER, COLO., July 27, 2004 -- Jabber, Inc., a leading provider of real-time business communications software, today announced plans to partner with WebEx Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: WEBX), the leading provider of web communications services, to integrate WebEx meeting capabilities into Jabber, Inc.’s enterprise-class messaging and presence solution. Jabber, Inc. plans to introduce the integrated offering in the third quarter of this year.
Jabber, Inc.’s Extensible Communications Platform (Jabber XCP) is one of the world’s most widely deployed instant messaging and presence systems. It is based upon XMPP, the only IETF-approved Internet standard for presence and instant messaging.
“An integrated solution positions both companies well vis-à-vis other enterprise IM and web conferencing solutions,” said Robert Mahowald, of research firm IDC. “Within this sector, you have to offer customers the right mix of presence and web communications capabilities and WebEx and Jabber XCP are a natural fit.”
“Jabber, Inc.’s customer base represents a strong lineup of enterprises and carriers who already recognize the value of real-time collaboration based on open standards,” said Jeff Schmidt, VP Strategic Accounts for WebEx. “Along with the immediate new customer opportunities, we look forward to seeing existing customers benefit from the increased productivity and cost reduction of using an integrated IM and Web communications solution.”
“WebEx is the clear leader in the Web conferencing market and we are looking forward to the opportunities inherent in our partnership,” said Rick Emery, VP of Business Development for Jabber, Inc. “Moving forward, Jabber, Inc. is working both internally and with partners to tie presence information into a variety of multimedia and web communications technologies that bring the right people and information together at exactly the right moment.”
