WebEx Training Center Application Captures Market Leader Position in 2004 Simba Information Report

WebEx Market Share Nearly Double Closest Competitor in Corporate Training And e-Learning Market

SAN JOSE, Calif., November 15, 2004—According to the annual corporate training and e-learning industry report published by research firm Simba Information, WebEx Training Center, an on-demand application from WebEx Communications, has become the industry leader for live, remote training. The report indicates that in 2004 WebEx’s market share in the e-learning industry climbed to nearly twice that of any competitor. WebEx Communications (Nasdaq: WEBX) is the leading provider of on-demand web meeting applications.

The full report, “Corporate Training Market 2004: Forecast and Analysis,” is available for purchase from Simba Information at: http://www.simbanet.com/publications/report_ctm.htm

"As businesses look for ways to save on travel costs and quickly disseminate critical information like new product details and regulatory compliance requirements, they are increasingly choosing web-based collaboration and training systems, fueling rapid growth in the market category during 2004,” said Michael O’Brien, Simba analyst and author of the report. “With its rich feature set, communications network and hosted service model, WebEx Training Center clearly tops the list of live online learning platform providers."

The report cites WebEx Training Center’s Hands-On Lab, a feature that enables users to remotely connect to computers or applications, and Presentation Studio, a multimedia content creation and delivery product for on-demand applications, as two new, dynamic components that have helped propel WebEx to its current lead position.

“When we launched WebEx Training Center in 2002, we were determined to offer the most collaborative, effective and hands-on online training application to meet the specific needs associated with delivering high-quality training to organizations of all sizes,” said Sanjay Dalal, director of Training Center for WebEx. “Now, just two years later, our leading position in the e-learning market indicates that users are in fact finding significant value in our application and its ever-expanding suite of remote training functions.”

The Simba report utilized worldwide sales and revenue figures to generate an informed overview of the corporate training industry and a detailed analysis of the web collaboration market. Roughly a decade after the initial development of online training tools, Simba Information projects that the overall market for live e-learning applications and services will increase 30 percent in 2004 giving it a three-year compound average growth rate of 22.7 percent, and making it the fastest growing sector of the overall corporate training market by a substantial margin.
