WebEx Wins Prestigious InfoWorld 2006 Technology of the Year Award

WebEx WebOffice Recognized as Best Live Collaboration Solution

SANTA CLARA, Calif., January 4, 2006—WebEx WebOffice, from on-demand collaboration applications leader WebEx Communications (Nasdaq: WEBX), has been named the Best Live Collaboration Solution in the InfoWorld 2006 Technology of the Year Awards. WebEx WebOffice, introduced in October 2005, allows business people to conduct online meetings, share documents, calendars and databases, assign and track tasks, and post group announcements in a secure online workplace.

The InfoWorld special report, ‘2006 Technology of the Year Awards’ praises WebEx WebOffice and recognizes the larger WebEx strategy of offering a full suite of on-demand collaboration applications. According to the report, WebEx WebOffice is “…taking a credible intranet-as-a-service package and adding a new $49-per-month Web conferencing feature. If anything’s going to kill Exchange, it’s a scaled-up version of these services.”

The report goes on to highlight the advantages on-demand leaders such as WebEx have over traditional software providers, “…there’s a future in collaboration-as-a-service; agile vendors such as WebEx are infinitely better placed to deliver something usable than the dinosaurs of years past.”

“Given the tremendous technical expertise of the InfoWorld test center staff, it’s truly an honor to receive this award for WebEx WebOffice,” said Rick Faulk, president, WebEx Small Business. “Our strategy is to leverage the WebEx WebOffice framework to deliver on-demand applications that enhance collaboration, communications and productivity for businesses of all sizes.”

WebEx WebOffice currently has more than 325,000 users worldwide. The service is offered in two versions, one for small businesses and one for individuals. Either version is available on-demand, and may be setup online in just minutes.

  • WebEx WebOffice Workgroup—Designed to meet the collaboration and web meeting needs of small businesses with five or more users, WebOffice Workgroup provides a complete collaboration suite including a document manager, group calendar, database manager, task manager and several other collaborative business tools.

  • WebEx WebOffice Personal—Tailored to the requirements of the individual professional, WebOffice Personal provides users with real-time web meetings, document manager, task manager, online calendar, and contact manager.
