LONDON, UK, October 11, 2005—WebEx Communications (Nasdaq: WEBX), the leading provider of on-demand collaboration applications, today launched WebEx WebOffice for individuals, small businesses and enterprises. WebEx WebOffice is part of a larger strategy to use a virtual office framework to deliver a suite of on-demand collaboration applications powered by the WebEx MediaTone Network.
WebEx applications allow businesses to leverage the web as an efficient channel for collaborative interaction with customers, partners and coworkers. These applications enhance business communications with personal interaction over the web, an interaction model WebEx calls “Web Touch”. WebEx applications add Web Touch to the business-critical components of sales, support, training and marketing processes.
In a separate release, WebEx launched the first of its new WebEx WebOffice solutions. WebEx WebOffice combines both asynchronous and real-time collaboration capabilities into one unified solution designed to help users save time, extend their reach and work more effectively. The integrated solution includes secure document sharing, group scheduling and task management, database applications, discussion forums and contact directories. WebEx WebOffice is available in personal, workgroup and enterprise packages.
"WebEx meetings solve the 'distance' problem by enabling people to effectively meet over the web no matter where they are located,” said Andy Nilssen, senior analyst and partner at Wainhouse Research. "WebOffice now solves the 'time' problem by enabling people to coordinate calendars, review and manage content, and access applications whenever they want. WebEx is in an excellent position to leverage its global network to deliver a complete suite of collaborative applications for small businesses and enterprises.”
WebEx delivers all its solutions over the WebEx MediaTone Network, a global network specifically designed for the delivery of on-demand applications. The WebEx MediaTone Network uses a distributed architecture and a patented, high-speed data switching technology to provide superior performance, enterprise-grade security and unmatched reliability.
