New Perspectives for Balancing Network Access and Security within Higher Education

New Perspectives for Balancing Network Access and Security within Higher Education
This webinar, sponsored by Juniper Networks, will feature guest presenters, Dr. Braddlee, Dean of Libraries, Academic Technology and Online Learning at Mercy College, Troy Herrera, Senior Marketing Manager for Juniper Networks, and other experts in the field of institution-wide network design and management. Dr. Braddlee, Mr. Herrera and guests will explore the new demands on college and university networks for supporting and improving the quality of distance learning, mobile learning, and the growing need for web-based services to support instruction and other institutional events and operational aspects.

The focus of their remarks will center on a security approach which combines user, device and location intelligence with layered and integrated security. These solutions achieve the optimum balance of network-wide security and open access to facilitate learning and research with granular access controls and dynamic policy enforcement. Presenters will also discuss new options for managing access control, protection of sensitive information, and the importance of counter measure against hidden security threats.

Dr. Braddlee will share some of his unique experiences from recent Mercy College learning quality and student retention initiatives and he will provide perspectives based on his current role as Board Chair for NERCOMP, an affiliate of Educause serving more than 240 accredited colleges and universities across the Northeastern United States. Other guest experts will provide insights into the planning process for network upgrades and will address the new needs for securely supporting multiple technology devices both on campus and for remote users.
