Getting Return to the Office Right

Employees returning to the office require a better collaboration experience than they have when they are remote. Optimizing the in-person meeting experience not only provides a reason to return to the office, but also offers tangible benefits in terms of improved collaboration. Success requires leveraging the right mix of hardware and software, as well as management tools that provide performance and utilization insights. It also requires leveraging approaches that allow remote attendees to easily see, hear, and collaborate with those in the meeting room.

We’ll cover how to leverage AI for optimizing voice and video, capturing transcripts, summaries, and action items, and for framing in-room participants. We’ll also dive into how privacy issues may limit features like transcription and in-room participant identification.

This session will provide practical, actionable guidance for IT and AV professionals to ensure that they are building in-person meeting experiences that are superior to remote attendance while also ensuring that remote attendees are full meeting participants.

Introduction to PIM for Large Multicast Networks

We've learned how to configure our networks for managing multicast traffic using IGMP Snooping and a Querier. However, there is another way to manage this traffic; Protocol Independent Multicast, otherwise known as PIM. Sometimes, PIM can solve problems and when multicast traffic needs to be routed to different networks, PIM might be the right solution.

This session will differentiate between PIM and the "usual" way multicast traffic is managed, introduce the main concepts of PIM, and help identify what types of network equipment is required to run PIM. We’ll also discuss why PIM should not be used in most circumstances.

PIM is not the go to method for audiovisual multicast networks but it can be a tool in the belt. Knowing when to suggest PIM can help improve conversations with the network managers. This information, while not specific enough to teach configuration, will give participants the vocabulary and background to have a conversation about when or if to use PIM.
