For those looking to limit or manage VPN traffic during this time, some optimizations that you could consider include the following:
- While video is a valuable part of remote collaboration, limiting video use to only presenters or key users is a way you can lower the network bandwidth used by the client.
- Users can be encouraged to disconnect from their VPN to join meetings if traffic over VPN is a concern, especially for large events.
- Administrators may wish to configure their desktop VPN client to direct Webex traffic to the internet rather than across the VPN tunnel. Visit our network requirements article for details on Webex network traffic to aid in configuring split-tunnels.
- Administrators who wish to process Webex traffic through their VPN tunnels should plan for the user bandwidth and ensure all appropriate ports and protocols are opened.
Administration and Configuration
For enterprise customers, whether you onboard new users in Site Administration or Control Hub, linking your Webex site and users to control hub and managing them in Control hub is the best way to administer your site, and mass-deploy the Webex client.

Configuring in meeting audio options gives you control over how users join meeting audio.
Webex Meetings supports “call my computer," allowing users to join from their desktop over the network, using VOIP. Best practices for using VOIP and user guidelines are available here.
In non-ideal network conditions, users can connect using the phone numbers associated with their meeting. For sites enabled with global call-in, multiple numbers around the globe can be used to join a Webex Meeting. While Webex is planning for high volumes of audio traffic on our infrastructure, large volumes of people in remote areas may increase volume on local telco provider networks.

Webex has made provisions with multiple carriers to plan for this type of incident outside of the Webex architecture. In some locations, secondary numbers are available - check the meeting global calling list.
Video and device management
In some instances, Administrators may wish to set up users with video devices in their home or alternate offices. We recommend cloud registering those devices to allow them to operate from a user’s home internet connection while being remotely managed through the Webex Control Hub.
Doing so also simplifies user onboarding and provides you real time analytics and diagnostics.

Diagnostics and troubleshooting
Administrators can use the Webex Control Hub to troubleshoot local system and network performance when joining Webex Meetings.
