Keeping workers connected between countries
Providing electricity for millions of people across six countries requires rigor and determination even in the face of disruption. “Most of our people are mobile,” said Izuwan, Project and Operations Manager at Tenaga Nasional Berhad. “They’re [never] in the same place at the same time.”

When certain workers at Tenaga Nasional Berhad started carrying out their jobs remotely amid the global health crisis in 2020, bringing people together for face-to-face meetings grew even more challenging. In hindsight, this large disruption revealed a valuable truth: traveling is expensive. During this time, Izuwan recognized how traveling expenses were affecting the organization’s bottom line.
“[When we hold meetings], people from the outskirts of the regions have to [attend]," Izuwan said. “[That leads to] a lot of expenses—especially traveling.”
While Tenaga Nasional Berhad had Webex in place before the global health crisis, Webex solutions were pivotal in maintaining the organization’s operations as the world shifted to a digital way of collaboration.

“When the Malaysian government announced [ the COVID-19 lockdown in] 2020, our organization was already [prepared] with Webex Meetings,” Izuwan said. “[This allowed us to hold] Webex Meetings and Webinars virtually to ensure our [organization remained operational] and was not interrupted.”

“[With] Webex in place, we can have a meeting at any time, on any device, and at any place,” Izuwan said. Furthermore, remote meetings help reduce operating expenses for Tenaga Nasional Berhad, as the organization no longer has to worry about resource-intensive schedule coordination or vehicle fares to bring dispersed workers together.
Not only has Webex Meetings helped Tenaga Nasional Berhad reduce its operating expenses, but it’s also allowed the organization to reduce carbon emissions by reducing the need for corporate-related travel. Now, Tenaga Nasional Berhad can hold more frequent meetings, connecting department heads with their teams to align on strategy, conduct training, and more.
Today, Tenaga Nasional Berhad holds one town hall meeting per month on Webex Webinars, an increase from one town hall per year in prior years.
